Laura and Sam’s Amazing Destination Wedding | Mallorca Wedding Photographer in Port de Soller
I love to travel, I love Mallorca and I love destination wedding photography so you can imagine how excited I was when Laura contacted me to enquire whether I would be her wedding photographer in Port de Soller. We first met Laura and Sam at Agapanto, the venue for their beach wedding and reception a few days later. After exchanging emails and phone calls over in the UK, it was so nice to be able to eventually meet up and discuss final details at this beautiful venue.
We also arranged to meet Laura and Sam the night before their wedding at Nautilus, another wonderfully situated restaurant high up on the hill overlooking the harbour of Port de Soller. They took the trouble to introduce us to each and every one of their friends and family so when it came to the big day we felt as if we were amongst friends. As it turned out, it was also a great opportunity for us to shoot a few pre-wedding photos that I anticipated we could use in their wedding slideshow.
The next day we headed from our base in the small town of Soller to Laura’s apartment in Port de Soller to capture some of Laura’s bridal preparations. It was so lovely to see her beautiful daughter Sophia get used to having a photographer around and turn from being camera-shy to becoming a real character in front of the camera! After an hour or so capturing the comings and goings of everyone whilst Laura’s hair and make-up artist, Linda Clarin, prepared her for her big day, we headed off round the bay to meet up with Sam as he enjoyed a relaxing pre-wedding drink, or two, with friends and family.
As the time rapidly approached we strolled the rest of the way round the bay to Agapanto to discover that Ana Maria and her team had beautifully transformed the restaurant and beach area. Sam and the guests congregated down on the beach as Laura and her bridesmaids waited in the shade at the top of the white-washed steps as a saxophonist played some soulful music close by.
After a few minutes with Laura and her bridesmaids I headed down on to the beach to join Sam during those nervous moments of anticipation just before the bride appears. The bridal party was soon upon us. First the bridesmaids and flower girls, then Laura, arm in arm with her very proud father, John. I was very touched by the arm that Sam momentarily placed gently on John’s back as he handed Laura to Sam and turned to sit down. Then there we all were enjoying an intimate ceremony whilst groups of curious sunbathers looked on respectfully.
Following a wonderful wedding breakfast during a typically warm Mallorcan evening the guests were then treated to the speeches. Laura’s dad spoke very movingly from his heart about his daughter and Laura responded by giving him a big hug when he finished. Beautiful! However, things weren’t so easy for Ben, Sam’s twin brother. Unfortunately he couldn’t read his prepared speech in the fading evening light so had to resort to ad-libbing! Afterwards, a curious Laura just couldn’t resist reading it to herself by torchlight to see exactly what he really wanted to say about the newlyweds!
The evening was rounded off with some excellent entertainment provided by the very talented Muntaner Duo, occasionally accompanied with vocals from Sam and his friends! As it turns out, we’re looking forward to listening to these guys again in mid-August at Carrie-Ann and Fraser’s destination wedding on the other side of the island in Capdepera.
We had an amazing time as their wedding photographer in Port de Soller, and our first beach wedding in Mallorca too! I can’t thank Laura and Sam, together with their friends and family, enough for making us feel so welcome and part of this wonderful occasion. Wishing you all every happiness for the future!
