Magical Fornalutx Wedding in one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Mallorca

I was so looking forward to photograph Charlotte and Steven’s Fornalutx wedding in Mallorca.   Without doubt, this is a stunning location for a destination wedding.

The plan was to have a ceremony in the village church followed by a reception in the nearby boutique Hotel Can Verdera. In my view, this is the best Fornalutx wedding venue in the village. This was definitely not to be missed.  They had both fallen in love with Mallorca many years ago.  So, with a special family affiliation to Fornalutx, it’s no surprise that this was their first choice for their wedding.

Probably one of the prettiest villages in Mallorca, Fornalutx is certainly a stunning location for a destination wedding.  No wonder, with its narrow cobbled streets and characterful stone houses with green-shuttered windows.  The small village square, the Plaza de Espanya, is busy with cafes and overlooked by the church.  It’s a popular stop off for hikers and cyclists who are often found wandering the cool streets before they head off down the Soller Valley.

As a wedding photographer, I appreciated Fornalutx’s relatively small size.  It was so easy to move between the buzz of the bridal preparations and the boys chilling out at a nearby hotel. The main square, and of course, the village church were only a stone’s throw away.

After a light breakfast in the square, we headed off to Can Verdera for the bridal preparations.   It was also Charlotte’s birthday so this was undoubtedly going to be her most memorable celebration ever!  Flowers, cards and gifts were everywhere. A day of love with friends and family awaited.

Meanwhile, Steven and his best men, Adam and Ross, were a few hundred metres away at the Fornalutx Petit Hotel just chilling and joking around.  I think the huge surprise for Steven was the Tag Heuer watch that Charlotte dispatched over to him.  He was most definitely blown away by her gift.

The wedding guests started to assemble in the main square. Before long the boys were on their way to meet them in their dashing wedding attire.

The minutes fly by at this time.  Before long, the bridal party joined Charlotte’s father, Gerald, as he waited patiently in the Can Vedera hotel lobby.  Then off we went on the walk through the cobbled streets.  Charlotte and the flower girls decided not to take any chances so walked bare-footed or in flip-flops to the church.

One of the things I love about Mallorca weddings is that we often get to walk through the streets with the public watching on. They often cheer and clap the bridal party along the way.  Maybe it all helps to calm the nerves, but also build the excitement for everyone.

The heels went back on after the gentle climb up to the church.  The doors opened. The music and choir started playing and the bridal party began their procession.  Charlotte looked stunning and smiled throughout the ceremony.  It was clearly a very happy occasion for everyone.

I noticed a local girl who seemed absolutely captivated by the wedding and watched attentively from the open doors.  She stayed close by as Charlotte and Steven left the church and followed us at some distance as we walked back to Can Verdera.  She may have been imagining her own Fornalutx wedding one day!

After the ceremony was over, friends and family congregated in the village square below the church. Before long, the bride and groom descended the steps down to the square for hugs and congratulations.  As expected, curious onlookers watched on. Many of them shouted congratulations as the newlyweds took the short walk back through the narrow cobbled streets to Can Vedera.

The hotel is in a stunning setting.  Its gardens, pool area and terrace overlook the valley towards Soller with amazing views to the surrounding Serra de Tramuntana.  Despite the threat of thunderstorms, the evening remained warm and dry.  The food and the wine flowed.

The amazing Muntaner Duo played their repertoire of guitar and ukulele music throughout the afternoon and early evening.  Later, the multi-talented Paul Martin then took over and entertained the guests over dinner with his famous Rat Pack sounds, followed later with a poolside disco.

It was most definitely a memorable day.  Thanks to Charlotte, Steven and all their friends and family for making us so welcome at their incredible Fornalutx wedding!
