As a wedding photographer, I find there is something very special about a Mallorca finca wedding. They have a lovely vibe. I would say that they are ideally suited to anyone looking for a more intimate and relaxed destination wedding.
They are often situated in beautiful countryside surrounded by olive trees and dark starry skies. Besides the occasional clanking of goat bells the only other sound on a warm evening should be the clinking of wine glasses!
Monique had previously lived in Mallorca and obviously fallen in love with the island so it was no surprise that this was where she would get married one day.
I was delighted to hear that Alex and Monique had chosen Pedruxella Gran for their intimate finca wedding in Mallorca. Parts of this extensive estate date back to a Moorish tower of the 11th century. It is set in a beautiful, peaceful location in the Tramuntana mountains outside Pollensa and is full of interest and history. Definitely a great location for nature lovers and artists.
We previously met Monique and Alex in Pollensa for their pre-wedding photoshoot and were warmly welcomed a few days later when we turned up at the finca for the bridal preparations. Everybody was very chilled and relaxed as the day unfolded. That’s a finca wedding vibe!
The flowers and caterers arrived and the long table laid up outside the courtyard for the wedding breakfast later in the day. Meanwhile, Monique and her friends and family were busy setting up the area below the finca reserved for the wedding ceremony. Tying up photos, decorations and lots of other personal touches just added to the intimate feel they wanted.
It was great to see that Monique’s mum’s extensive make-up experience was being put to good use, and made for some touching mother and daughter moments. On top of this, Monique had collected some thoughtful personal gifts for both her mum, Tricia and Alex’s grandma, May. It’s all gold dust for a wedding photographer!
The guests were now assembled for the mid-afternoon wedding on the lower terrace. The bridal party was almost ready to meet them. As I was making my way down the staircase, I glanced back towards the bridal suite. Monique was beautiful framed in the doorway as everyone made final touches to her dress and bouquet. She looked stunning!
By the time the bridal party made their way to the courtyard entrance it turned out that some last-minute changes were necessary to the dress. Everyone sprung in to action and a few minutes later the bridal party descended the terracing.
I can only imagine how Alex felt as he watched his beautiful bride elegantly descend the steps. Monique’s mum proudly waited at the bottom, ready to escort her down the aisle towards Alex. Rather touchingly, Monique removed a white rose from her bouquet and passed it over to Grandma May.
It was a really beautiful outdoor ceremony with some lovely touches conducted by Annie in a superb setting. Perfect and very memorable!
The speeches entertained everyone after a wonderful relaxed wedding breakfast served in the late afternoon sun. A perfect mix of humour, love and emotion captured the mood of the day. You can enjoy a few snippets in the photofilm below.
I have definitely become a real fan of outdoor wedding ceremonies and Pedruxella Gran is certainly a special venue for consideration. I can’t thank Monique and Alex enough for their warmth and kindness and wish them every happiness for their future together.
Take a look at a highlights version of Monique and Alex’s photofilm set to a beautiful version ‘Make You Feel My Love’. I have included a few snippets from the speeches to add to the intimate feel of the wedding. Hope you enjoy it!
